We The Kingdom Win A Dove Award As They Drop Their Debut Christmas EP
Contemporary Christian Music band We The Kingdom have at least two reasons to rejoice today. At the 52nd Annual GMA Dove Awards, We the Kingdom claimed the Contemporary Artist of the Year award. Moreover, the band also releases their debut six-song EP A Family Christmas. The project's name is appropriate, given that the band includes hit CCM producer/songwriter Ed Cash, his children Franni Rae and Martin Cash, his brother Scott and family friend Andrew Bergthold.
The Christmas EP is particularly close to the team's heart. They write "Christmas is such a unique and special time of year. Though it's filled with so much celebration, it can often be a very painful time for many. We lost our Dad/Grandfather last Christmas after a long battle with dementia. We are so thankful because of the hope of the manger that we will see him again. This album is all about not only the joy and celebration, but the reverence for the most beautiful story ever written that is a promise of Heavenly peace even in the struggle.
Some of these songs have been circulating in our family and have been a part of the Christmas soundtrack in our home for several years and now we can't wait to get to share them with y'all too this year. Some of these songs are brand new and we can already tell they are gonna hold a special place in our hearts in Christmases to come. Don't worry, if you aren't ready for Christmas music yet, put it on your playlist for when the time is right."
Dante Bowe and Maverick City Music join on "Silent Night (Heavenly Peace)," while the album also includes "Christmas Day," a collaboration with Chris Tomlin, which was included on Tomlin's September release Emmanuel: Christmas Songs of Worship (which was produced by Ed Cash).
We The Kingdom are currently on the road with Zach Williams and working on songs for a new project.
