Makenzie Phipps' Video Of Alan Jackson's "I Want To Stroll Over Heaven With You" Goes Viral
Singer-songwriter Makenzie Phipps' cover of Alan Jackson's "I Want To Stroll Over Heaven With You" has gone viral. The video started to gain momentum after two days and had been viewed 30,000 times. Then, like lightning, the video took off and has been viewed nearly 1 million times and over 10,000 shares! Phipps recently finished recording new music and will be releasing her next single later this fall.
"Hymns have always been so important to me because they were the first songs I ever started singing," shares Phipps. "My mawmaw got me into singing when I was very young in church, so I enjoy doing them when I can. I felt like recording one that my aunt Zena loves and had mentioned to me in the past. I am just so blown away by how much this song has touched individuals throughout the world, and am blessed to be doing what the good lord intended for me to do!"
Makenzie has landed features on Country Rebel, I Love Country Music, Classic Country Music, Addicted 2 Country Music, The Country Network, and more. Her connection to her fans is stronger than ever and she is constantly interacting with them on social media. She has received awards such as "Female Country Song of the Year" at the 2021 Josie Music Awards and was named "Future Star of the Year" by the North American Country Music Association International. Her beautiful renditions of "Amazing Grace" and "Travelin' Soldier" have over 1 million views on Facebook and only continue to grow. 2022 will be an exciting year for Makenzie!
Makenzie's other passion is animals! She volunteers at the Mercer County Animal Shelter in Bluefield, W.Va. In January, Phipps began a weekly segment on her social media called "Take Me Home Thursday," where a dog is featured in hopes of finding a home. Focusing on the senior, or more difficult breeds, Makenzie has helped find homes for 15 dogs who have lived at the no-kill shelter.
"I started volunteering at my local animal shelter in January of 2022. I have always had a place in my heart for helping animals and what drove me to start volunteering was a dog named Swanson that passed away in December of 2021 due to poor health and past abuse conditions," explains Phipps. "Ever since then, I have wanted to help the animals at the shelter find their "furever" homes to live out the rest of their days. I do a segment called "Take Me Home Thursday" every week that showcases a dog. Thanks to the videos we've gotten 14/16 dogs adopted out, and I could not be more thankful."
