'Dancing with the Stars' ABC Season 19 Premiering without Champion Maksim Chmerkovskiy Announced on 'The View'
When 'Dancing with the Stars' Season 19 returns to ABC this Fall, it will be without dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy. The 34-year-old dancer made an appearance on "The View" on Tuesday (July 29) and shared, ""I'm done dancing. I feel like it's time."
"I loved the experience," he added. "When I came back to the show, it was not the same...I was different, probably...When I came back, I saw this amazing talent, Val [Chmerkovskiy, his brother] included...I looked at it and thought they can do much more and better, I was taking up a huge spot."
Chmerkovskiy, returned to "Dancing with the Stars" for Season 18, after taking some time off to star in Broadway's "Forever Tango". He ended up winning the mirror ball last season with Olympian partner Meryl Davis, so he will go out a champion.
The news was then shared on "The View" official Twitter account. ".@MaksimC is leaving @DancingABC as a dancer, but may be back in some other capacity! #TheView."
"When I came back to the show, it was not the same. I was different, probably. When I came back, I saw this amazing talent, Val (Chmerkovskiy) included," he shared of his decision to leave. "I looked at it and thought they can do much more and better, I was taking up a huge spot."
Chmerkovskiy expressed an interest in returning to the program as a judge and longtime judge Len Goodman did share about retiring from the show, however no decision has been made. Chmerkovskiy recently served as a guest judge on "Dancing With the Stars" India.
"Dancing With the Stars" Season 19 is set to premiere on September 15th on ABC.
