Here is some very good news for the lovers and fans of Sherlock Holmes. There has been a confirmation that 'Sherlock' will be back for season 4. Reports from TV.com say that BBC has confirmed that there will be a Christmas special for the show which will be aired in 2015 before the three new episodes for season 4 are casted.

Before they issued an official confirmation, BBC One has been seen posting teasing news that the highly popular TV series could be making a comeback. BBC One has said that of all the seasons, this will be the most shocking as it will be full of surprises. They also said that the fans of 'Sherlock' should expect the unexpected when it comes to season 4.

It is reported that there was a delay to sort out the schedule of the two main stars of the 'Sherlock' as Martin Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch have become some of the most sort after stars. This is of course due to the popularity they have gained from the 'Sherlock' TV series. It is said that since the shooting of the Christmas special edition will start on January, people think that the next season will air in 2016. This is a rumor though as there is no official confirmation yet.

Telegraph reports that during an interview, Martin Freeman disclosed the confirmation of the Christmas special. He said that due to the busy schedule of the actors who are involved in the show, the special can only be filmed in January, which means that it will premiere in December 2015. This then pushes the premiere of season 8 to early 2016.

The show's creator, Steven Moffat had also disclosed that 221B Baker Street will be used once again. According to rumors, Amanda Abbington, who plays Mary, the wife of Watson, will still be around for the 4^th season which means that her character in this series will not die.

As the cast of 'Sherlock' is caught up in a busy schedule, we will evidently have to wait for quite some time for the release of the Christmas special as well as the 4^th season.
