Peg McKamey Bean Passes Away

Veteran Hall of Fame artist Peg McKamey Bean has passed away on December 26, 2023 from complications related to a stroke suffered on December 11, 2023.
Peg is known for being part of the Southern Gospel group The McKameys. The McKameys have been a prominent fixture in Southern Gospel music for decades, known for their close harmonies and heartfelt performances. Peg's powerful vocals and the group's sincere approach to their faith have earned them a dedicated following in the Southern Gospel community. Their songs often reflect themes of faith, hope, and the Christian experience, resonating with audiences who appreciate their genuine and heartfelt music.
Ernie Haase writes, "This is both heartbreaking and breathtaking. Peg McKamey went home to be with the Lord. Her grandson, Eli Fortner, has quickly become one of our dearest friends and EHSS teammates. We grieve their pain and celebrate Peg's birth into the presence of our Lord."
Brian Free and Assurace continue, "This morning, Heaven got a little sweeter. Peg McKamey entered the place she sung about for so long. Her anointing, talent, kindness, and unmistakable love for people will be remembered by all of us who were privileged to know her. The message she brought to the world will forever leave a mark. We miss you already, Peg, and we'll see you again soon."
Peg is survived by her husband, Ruben Bean, daughters Connie Fortner and Sheryl Farris, sons Michael Bean and Brian Bean, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sister Carol (Jess) Woodard whom she toured and ministered with over 30 years, as well as brothers, Robert McKamey, Jay McKamey, and Andy McKamey.
