Fifty Shades of Grey' Movie Spoilers: Three Books Will Be Incorporated Into One Movie
Fans of E.L. James 'sexplicit' novels may be in for a bit of disappointment once they finally get to watch Sam Taylor-Johnson's movie adaptation of 'Fifty Shades of Grey.' Based on the teaser clips released so far, there may not be that much kinky, steamy sex scenes to look forward to after all. It looks like it will be more focused on the romance than on the erotica side of the story.
Eloise Mumford, who plays Anastacia Steele's friend and roommate Kate in the movie, in fact already told E! in June that Taylor-Johnson's adaptation will be "tasteful and artistic" and that "It's going to be beautiful... In the end, the story really is a romance and a love story so it's about that more than anything." A Mirror source also reportedly revealed that "It's less racy than the book."
"Fifty Shades of Grey" is the first in a trilogy of books by E.L. James, with the second entitled "Fifty Shades Darker" and the third "Fifty Shades Freed," which will explore the complicated relationship between Anastacia Steele, a young woman who's just about to graduate from college, and Christian Grey, an intriguing, charming billionaire with a kinky fetish for rough sex.
According to a previous report by Entertainmentwise, "Universal are so convinced of box office success that they're already forging ahead with the sequel." However, Perez Hilton maintains that "the movie script has condensed the entire trilogy into just one story, meaning there will be no Fifty Shades Darker or Fifty Shades Freed movies...[and that] the production company has released a statement announcing there will only be one movie! Well at least there will be two versions..."
There will be two versions of the movie - one, a "Rated-R," for the mainstream audience, and another, an "NC-17," for the die-hard fans of the explicit erotic novel.
Said producer Dana Brunetti in a recorded talk with reporters, "What we're kind of hearing from the fans is they want it dirty...they want it as close as possible (to the book)...I always thought it would be really cool if we released the 'R' version, and then we had an 'NC-17' version that we released a few weeks later. Everybody could go and enjoy the 'R' version, and then if they really wanted to see it again and get a little bit more gritty with it then we have that 'NC-17' version out there as well. That is my idea, but the fans and the studio will benefit from the double dip. We do not want this film to be seen as mommy porn - we want to keep it elevated, but also give the fans what they want."
"Fifty Shades of Grey," the movie, wrapped up production early this year. It stars Dakota Johnson as "Anastasia" and Jamie Dornan as "Christian Grey." It was directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson based on a screenplay written by Kelly Marcel with Patrick Marber and Mark Bomback.
The film adaptation of the best-selling E.L. James erotic novel Fifty Shades of Grey Release Date is scheduled to hit the theater screens by February 13, 2015, in time for Valentine's Day.
