Samsung and Barnes & Noble announced their partnership in June with the aim of creating the new Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook which feature the award winning Barnes & Noble digital reading experience. It has been already confirmed that Barnes & Noble will no longer make their Nook tablets.
The co-branded devices will combine popular Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 hardware with customized Nook software to give customers powerful, full-featured tablets that are designed for reading, with easy access to Barnes & Noble's expansive digital collection of more than three million books, leading magazines and newspapers. Samsung and Barnes & Noble have named the upcoming tablet as the 'first ever Android tablet optimized for reading.' By combining the two worlds, the Galaxy Tab Nook will be a masterpiece. If the upcoming 7-inch tablet is a success, there is a possibility of a 10-inch coming after it.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook runs Android KitKat 4.4, but it is optimized for book lovers with B&N's software. Barnes & Noble will offer in-store support for the life of the device, and can provide tips on using the Tab 4 Nook as what to read or watch next. The Tab 4 Nook has the same specs as the Galaxy tab 4. It has a 7-inch screen tablet with 1280*800 pixel resolution and 16M colors. It's run by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor with 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB of Storage and can support a MicroSD card of up to 32GB. It will feature a 3MP rear camera and a 1.3 MP front facing camera and has a video recording capability of 720p at 30fps. For the first time, a nook device will have front and rear cameras. The Tab 4 Nook costs $179
As for connectivity, the Tab 4 Nook has dual-band 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4, Wi-Fi Direct, GPS and Glonass. The Tab 4 Nook measures 186.9*9*107.9mm and weighs 276g. It is claimed to have a 4000mAh battery which will allow up to 10 hours of video, 190 hours audio, or 10 hours of internet usage. This is definitely a tablet to look out.
