Into the Woods movie trailer reveals that the film won't have the typical Disney happy ending and will stay true to the Broadway musical
Disney has been known for its happy endings but after seeing the Into the Woods movie trailer it would seem that this fairy tale-based film will not be sporting that after all.
If you're the type who's been living under the rock, Into the Woods is a film adaptation of Stephen Sondheim's Tony Award-winning musical which is based on several fairy tales the Grimm Brothers have written including Rapunzel, Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella and Jack and the Beanstalk. It is directed b Rob Marshall and written by James Lapine and has promised to stay true to the musical - that includes the singing as well as the deaths of certain characters.
The Into the Woods movie features a star studded cast including Meryl Streep, James Corden, Emily Blunt, Anna Kendrick, Chris Pine, Johnny Depp, Christine Baranski, Lucy Punch, Lilla Crawford, Daniel Huttlestone, Tracy Ullman, Mackenzie Mauzy, Richard Glover, Frances de la Tour, Simon Russell Beale, Joanna Riding and Annette Crosby.
It was also reported that Sondheim himself has written new songs for the Into the Wood film, one of which is entitled as Rainbows. The song was written specifically for the character Meryl Streep is portraying in the movie. However it would seem that we won't be seeing it in the final cut though there are hopes that it can be shown in the Bluray and DVD release.
Catch the Into the Woods movie on December 25, 2014 for US cinemas and January 9 for UK cinemas.
