Videogame History Museum Finally Has A Home In Texas! The Museum Will Start Opening Its Doors Early Next Year
We are pretty sure that if you have attended any industry event, you may have spotted the travelling galleries of the Videogame History Museum a couple of times. For years now, that is what they have always done-travelling and showcasing to people the art and history of video games. Not for long! They have finally found a home that will make them stay put and people can just come by to visit, view and enjoy the pieces.
The Frisco Community Development Corporation board in Frisco, Texas just reportedly approved the deal that granted the Videogame History Museum some space in their Frisco Discovery Center. How big of a space? 10,400 square foot! It has also been reported that the Museum will start opening their doors by April for their patrons.
The museum has received various donations including $100,000 from the Frisco Convention, Visitors Bureau and CDC to help the museum with their startup costs. The expenses in total is estimated to be around $800,000 and that is including for improving the building and for extra parking.
The co-founders of the museum, John Hardie and Sean Kelly spoke in a recent interview saying that their primary focus for the museum is education on the history of the industry and of course, games themselves. The founders have even created new workshops so that students can understand more the mechanics and science behind their beloved video games.
Important gaming artifacts finally have a place that they can call home!
