Star Trek 3: William Shatner a Possible Return for the Third Film of the Star Trek Series
Rumors are circulating in the internet regarding the third installment of Star Trek Series film, under Paramount Pictures.Star Strek is an American action, adventure, and science-fiction film, created by gene Roddenberry under Paramount and CBS.
However, Star Trek 3 could be getting closer as Zachary Quinto, who played Mr. Spock in the first two helmed reboots, talked its way to the Star Trek universe.
In the Today show, Quinto was asked if there is any news regarding the project.
"I think it's on the horizon. Things are rumbling, so I have a feeling that we will be in production sometime in the next six months," Quinto explained.
No announcement has been made regarding the cast of the film. However, Foxnews.com reveals that William Shatner was contacted for a possible return for the third film of the Star Trek Series.
The sci-fi film is set to be produced by Director J.J. Adams, with David Ellision as the executive producer. Reports say that Roberto Orci will be the man tasked to oversee the crew. Orci served as a co-screenwriter on all three Star Trek installments to date. He also has credits on blockbuster films like The Amazing Spiderman 2 and Transformers.
According to Orci, the first draft of the new script has been completed. He did not unveil the plot details yet, so fans have to be patient and wait a bit more. He added that new script will move the movie's characters nearer to the original television inspiration. Pre-production will start at the end of the year or in early 2015.
An interesting detail is that there seems to be a confirmation about the direction of the new film. Earlier reports saying that Star Trek 3 be set well into the five year voyage of the enterprise seem to be true. Orci and the company's new screenplay comes to pass years after Star Trek Into Darkness and will swing from the Earth-based plot into a deeper interstellar exploration and coming across alien cultures.
We a pre-production in progress, an accomplished draft of the script, and a director hired, the next thing to plot are the characters and the release date.
There is no announcement yet with regard to the release date of the movie. However, Paramount has said that Star Trek 3 is expected to debut at a point in 2016. This is to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the original series.
