Minecraft for Xbox One review: It's the same game fans have always loved
Developed by a small Swedish team led by Markus 'Notch' Persson, Minecraft brings to mind a digital version of the iconic LEGO, as players can connect blocks with one another and build anything they can imagine.
A material called Redstone conducts energy and allows players to build moving, mechanical objects with moveable components like switches and pressure plates. The only limit is the player's technical expertise.
Minecraft players have to gather materials using their bare hands or tools while having to deal with monster attacks in dark places.
With creations ranging from simple to detailed, intricate and complex, Minecraft's endless possibilities are a great creative exercise. The lack of structure, however, can be daunting for spatially-challenged gamers, who may even find it boring.
But is Minecraft just as fun when played on an Xbox? Yes. The controls are intuitive and therefore very easy to use.
That being said, Minecraft may not be for every gamer, but for hardcore Minecraft fans, it's one of the most enjoyable games available on Xbox One.
