Motorola Moto X vs Moto G: Best Budget-Friendly Smartphones - Motorola Stepping Up Again
Combining excellent hardware and software with cheap price is a sure formula for gaining desired sales amidst tough market competition. After several years of income lost, Silicon Valley tech-giant has bounced back after it unveiled its Moto series last year.
Making the most out of the new found momentum, Motorola unveiled its updated android smartphones last month, the Moto X and Moto G, Android Origin reported. "Motorola announced two new smartphones last month. Both devices come with most of the great qualities of their predecessors, but with updated hardware and improved designs."
Reviews noted the slight change of design of the new Moto X. The handset's rounded design shares a resemblance with the Korea-based tech-giant's Samsung Galaxy series. Meanwhile, Moto G, second generation, looks like a combination of Moto G and Moto E.
The main material used for the new G smartphone is polycarbonate while Moto X customers can choose from leather, bamboo or a polycarbonate cover. This means Moto G user will have no option in terms of its back material.
Moto X has a bigger screen display, 5.2-inch, than Moto G with 5 inches, but both Motorola smartphones have Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. In terms of capturing capability, Moto X has a 13MP sensor while Moto G has an 8MP camera.
Technobuffalo compared and noted that "Moto X's 13-megapixel sensor is like night and day; pictures are less grainy and they actually possess a bit of life. In other words, if the camera was what held you back from purchasing the device last year, you shouldn't have any worries with Motorola's second-generation device."
In terms of specifications, the improved Moto X has Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset with a quad-core 2.5GHz processor while Moto G has 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset with Adreno 305 GPU and 1GB RAM. Storage capabilities of both handsets are also expandable.
The batteries of both Moto X and Moto G are considered the areas-needing-improvement of Motorola, but tech-savvies let this pass because of the smartphones budget-friendly price as reported by Engadget.
"Motorola's wallet-friendly formula hasn't changed much since last year's Moto G but that's ok. The company changed just enough to make the 2014 version one of the best budget smartphones out there."
