"Greatest hits" collections are an interesting genre in themselves. They allow us to map the artistic evolution of a singer especially when the songs are arranged in a chronological order. This is certainly true of Francesca Battistelli's latest package. "Greatest Hits: the first ten years" puts us in the front seat as we witness how Battistelli starts to evolve slowly but surely from being a consummate CCM pop artist to become more of a contemporary worship artist.

The Perrys “A Very Perry Christmas” Album Review

When producer Wayne Haun and the Perrys unite, magic happens. If you are familiar with Haun, you would know that he's one of the most awarded musician in CCM. This comes as no surprise as Haun is a connoisseur in bringing us back to the sepia tone era of Frank Sinatra where music was romantic and affecting. Haun's stellar use of string orchestration is something that deserves multiple standing ovations.

Meredith Andrews “Receive Our King” Album Review

Christmas albums are a tricky affair. If an artist decides to go the traditional route by tackling solely the seasonal carols, they are bound to get criticisms for being a slough. Then if she decides to do originals, comparisons with the standard carols are bound to emerge. Meredith Andrews has decided to take the middle road of half and half, where she mixes the more contemporary compositions with the tried-and-true. But she doesn't just divide the songs neatly between the two camps.

Point of Grace “Sing Noel” Album Review

After all these years, Point of Grace still sounds angelic with their gorgeous harmonies. Time has been very gracious to them: they still have flurry layers of tenderness and verve like they did back in the 90s. In the 90s, these girls were unstoppable. Each single that they released was fated for the #1 position, thus making them one of the most successful groups in CCM.

ICF Worship “The Journey: A Collection” Album Review

Every worship leader ought to have this album in their collection. If you have had ever led worship in church before you would know that songs that are conterminously (1) singable for the congregation, (2) Biblical and theological in content, and (3) not individualistically trite and not cycling along the endless loops of repeated clichés are rare.
