Revive Worship Speaks of Serving the Church with "Made Alive" & Their Forthcoming Psalms-Inspired Album
Revive Worship Music is a ministry of First Baptist Church of Loganville, Ga. It was birthed out of a desire to see worship revived in the church. Our hope is that not only will musical worship be revived, but also that what is said in Romans 12:1-2 that living a life of sacrifice as a true act of spiritual worship will ring true in all our hearts and those impacted by our music.
We are so honored to catch up with them for this exclusive interview.
Hallels: Thanks so much for this opportunity. For our readers who may not be familiar with you, tell us who is Revive Worship?
First off thank you so much for your desire to interview us. We are humbled and grateful for this opportunity. Revive Worship is a ministry based out of our home church First Baptist Church of Loganville. Our calling is to use our gifts of songwriting and performing to not only lead the church in worship, but to equip them to pursue God with all of their hearts, minds and strength. We believe that true worship is what Paul describes in Romans 12:1-2 that we would be a living sacrifice of worship. When we came together to write the Made Alive album we never expected for God to open the doors that He has. We are just a few people from the great state of Georgia who love Jesus and want to see others fall in love with Him as well.
Hallels: How would you describe your style of worship music?
Like every band or musician there are artist that you draw inspiration from. With our background as worship leaders we naturally draw from industry leaders such as Tomlin, Hillsong and others. In writing and recording the new record we wanted to capture the same singable melodies. We also wanted to return to our grassroots, which growing up in Georgia has a country flare. We are so excited about the new album. I really don't know how to properly describe the style. You just need to hear it.
Hallels: I have read that your latest album "Made Alive," was inspired by your church's sermon series from Ephesians. In what ways are the words and themes of Ephesians reflected in the songs?
The book of Ephesians has many reflections in the album. The title track Made Alive is a big celebration of what is made clear in Ephesians 2:1-6. That by nature we are born into sin as children of wrath and our favorite part, but God rich in his mercy and because of His great love and grace we can be made alive. Many of the songs reflect the message captured in Ephesians. The track titled One is out of Ephesians 4 which is all about unity. We believe that unity in the church is vital in these days as we need to unite under the banner of Jesus Christ.
Hallels: As a church worship team who write your own music, how do you decide which songs get to the final cut? What are your criterion for a good worship song?
We pray through each song and have very honest conversations about the cohesiveness and singability of each song as well as how theologically sound they are. Once we walk through that process our church family is very gracious as we put these songs into a rotation for Sunday morning gatherings. Our ultimate goal is to write songs that not only resonate within our own hearts, but also the hearts of the church.
Hallels: If there is one song from the record that you are most proud of, which would it be? And why?
These songs are like children or our dogs for most of us. We love them all. I will say that Made Alive is a song with a cool story that began on the writing retreat. We had some individual writing time scheduled and three of us were in different areas of the house unknowingly writing the same song. Emma Barge one of our writers was on the opposite end of the massive back porch from me and heard me singing through what became the chorus and shouted, "Hey, I think I have something for that!" We brought the team back together and Brandon helped puzzle it together. Brandon also got his nickname here, "the puzzler". Made Alive has become an anthem of sorts for our church. We are just humbled that God called us to be a part of this!
Hallels: I believe you are preparing for your next album which revolves around the psalms. And you are also getting fans to help finance the record. Tell us more and how our readers can help.
More than anything we desire prayer as we record and walk through this album. We are raising funds for this project as we are still very new to the industry. Fans can visit our Facebook page and shoot us a message for more info or you can visit our go fund me site at http://www.gofundme.com/j2bfq0.
