Rascal Flatts' Jay DeMarcus Signs Reagan Strange and Cade Thompson to His Label
In a press conference held on Friday, November 22, 2019 at BMI in Nashville, TN, Jay DeMarcus announced the addition of two new artists to his Christian music label, Red Street Records - Reagan Strange and Cade Thompson.
Reagan Strange, 14, is a powerhouse vocalist from Memphis, TN, and is most recently known for being on Team Adam (Levine) on Season 15 of NBC's The Voice. Strange has always had a passion for singing and wants to be an inspiration to all of those around her.
"When you look at how young Reagan is," DeMarcus said, "her maturity level and the depth of her voice, coupled with the precision with which she delivers a song, really captivated me while she was on The Voice. Then when I met her in person in L.A., she was even more impressive."
DeMarcus added, "I signed Reagan because I believe in what she's doing, and I believe the world needs to hear the message she has to deliver. Reagan can be a light for an entire generation of younger kids."
Cade Thompson, 18, is an energetic and soulful contemporary artist with a sound that appeals to Christian music enthusiasts and mainstream pop audiences alike. He has an admirable ability to transform his thoughts and faith into a powerful collection of melodies and lyrics that inspire people of all ages. Thompson has shared concert and festival lineups with For King & Country, Colton Dixon and Jaci Velasquez, among others.
"I heard about Cade from my friend and business partner [acclaimed producer and songwriter] Don Koch," DeMarcus said. "Don sent me some of Cade's demos, and I really loved what I heard immediately. The transparency of who he is as a person is refreshing."
DeMarcus continued, saying, "He's got a depth to him that is very rare to find in such a young man. I'm proud to be his partner and take his music to the world."
DeMarcus started Red Street Records because Christian music is where he began. "I always feel like I'm going back home every time I work [in Christian music]. I grew up in the church and have always loved contemporary Christian music. It's great to 'come back home' and feel like I've never skipped any time," he said last year when he formed the label.
"I want to be part of bringing more visibility to the Christian music genre," DeMarcus explained, "and give it some platforms it may not have had before. As blessed as we've been with Rascal Flatts, I hope to be able to give these artists some visibility in arenas they've never had before."
Red Street is a natural evolution for DeMarcus-he's kept his hands in the Christian music world for years, producing Reba's GRAMMY and GMA Dove award-winning Christian music album, Sing It Now, along with projects for artists Jason Crabb (who won a GRAMMY for the project, Unexpected) and the Martins, among others.
