IHOPKC's Brandon Oaks Speaks About the Importance of Singing Scripture as New Single Drops
IHOPKC worship leader and songwriter Brandon Oaks has released his new single "Father of Lights." The song, which was written by Brandon Oaks and Justin Rizzo, is based on James 1:2 which states, "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance."
"My new single Father of Lights is available in 7 days!" Oaks shares on social media. "I love singing this song to The Lord, y'all. Can't wait for you guys to hear it."
In an interview for WorshipFuel, Oaks speaks of the importance of singing Scripture. "I've spent eight years with the International House of Prayer, where we sing the Bible six times a week for two hours. This daily Bible singing has been one of the most impactful things in my life. When we sing God's Word back to Him, it connects our hearts to Him in a different way than reading or speaking it can.
Over the years, as I began doing this, I saw my language and communication to God change. I began to write and sing His truths instead of just my feelings. Most people know more worship songs than they do Bible verses, but I believe by singing the Bible regularly you will witness God printing His Word on your heart in a powerful way."
Raised in Tallahassee, FL, Brandon has sung and played guitar since 2003. He has been in multiple bands where he engaged in various roles including singer and electric, drum, and bass player, as well as serving as producer and recording and mixing engineer. Playing primarily electric since 2011, he has led worship at IHOPKC since 2014. He is married to Morgan. Brandon has a passion to write songs, lead worship, and train musicians how to both grow in their skills and cultivate a spirit of prophecy and intercession.
